Site Review : The Knot Wedding Shop

The Knot Wedding Shop is the central shopping site within The Knot’s main directory site.  It offers a small, select range of print your own invitation kits, alongside selected wedding related cards, software and websites.

It is extremely inexpensive, offering kits of (still very stylish) inviations from $0.49 per invitation.

This site is perfect for you if you are looking for cheap / budget options for your wedding invitations, or if you’d like a DIY kit to which you can then add your own personal touches.

This site is not for you if you are looking for a specific motif, color or ethinic / cultural reference, or would like personalized or customized invitations.

Review:

Wedding invitations are tucked away under “Wedding Planning” in the navigation panel of the Wedding Shop at The Knot.  Although small, it is a remarkably broad range of affordable DIY kits for wedding invitations.  The Stationery section also includes a good range of related invitations for bridal shower, Save the Date and Thank you’s.

Site Layout	The Knot Wedding Shop is located under “Wedding Shop” on the main Knot Wedding site.  Within the Wedding Shop, there is navigation on the left hand side for Wedding Planning.Under Wedding Planning, there is a section of “Print Your Own Invitations” and “Stationery”.  This is the place to go! There is a search function available so that you can search the designs by newest, top seller and price (lowest to highest and vice versa)
Design	There is a small (just fifteen designs), but remarkably broad, range of designs in the print your own wedding kit area.Similarly, in the stationery section, this actually covers a range of wedding related stationery and cards. There are limited color selections, although the colors they do carry are popular and well made (Black & White, Floral, White and Chocolate Brown).  The styles available include simple, elegant and contemporary designs, as well as photo wedding invitaions. All the designs come in kits with everything you need to produce your wedding invitations, which makes life easy!
Additional Services	The kits typically also include response / reply cards and there is a small range of other wedding related invitations and cards available (eg Save The Date, Thank yous, Rehearsal Dinner, Bridal Shower.)
Samples	No samples are available.
Process	As there is no personalization or customization available, the process is very simple.  Find the design you like, select it and proceed to the checkout. For the US site, shipping to US addresses only.  There is also an Australian site, but it does not have a Wedding Shop, only listing suppliers in Aus for invitations and calligraphy.
Price	This is the standout feature – the prices are excellent if you are on a tight budget (or wish to spend your budget on other aspects of your wedding). The cheapest kit is $24.99 for 50 invitations (that’s just $0.49 per invite!).  The most expensive kit in the collection is $1.40 per invite, which is still remarkably affordable.
What I Loved	The affordability, but still with quality of design. These are printable kits, where you also self assemble, which gives you the option to add personal touches such as ribbon or calligraphy if you’d like to.Under Stationery, they offer a Wedding Website service and also Wedding Stationery Software – perfect for the DIY bride!
What I Didn’t	Its a very small range, by comparison to other wedding invitation sites. It would be great to see them expand this offering.When you select a design to look it, a range of “additional products” and “other visitors also liked” suggestions take up alot of space. I’d prefer to look at the selected design with a little less advertising… but maybe that’s just me.
Hot Tip	The Wedding Shop has reguarly sales and discounts, so its worth staying in touch with their site, either via our Discounts page, and/ or on their mailing list.  They also have a ‘Bill me later’ option for purchases (across the whole Wedding Shop) of $150.They also offer a HUGE range of other wedding related items at great prices – so well worth a browse around while you are there.
