Minted.com is a newly launched (in 2009) invitation site specialising in fresh, modern, custom stationery and invitations.
This site is perfect for you if you want individual designs and high quality paper and printing processes, as well as customization and personal customer service. Minted offer gorgeous, luxury wedding invitations.
This is not for you if you need very specific ethinic, religious or cultural references and styles, if you want to DIY or you are looking for a broad range of cheap / budget wedding invitations.
Review:
Minted.com focus on independent designers and stationery brands known for their artistry and quality printing and papers. They offer extensive customization services (including design from scratch), professional designers working on your invitations and useful accompanying services such as calligraphy to perfectly match your quality invitations. Their service is only available to delivery addresses in the United States.

The site functionality is very good. Its very easy to search across a useful range of categories including: price, color, style, turnaround time, print type, season and brand.
There are also some terrific browsing features that have been carefully thought out. For example, in any category, you can ‘view all’ as a slide show, so you don’t have to click – open – view – close a hundred times to view the selection. The only small trick I found was you need to choose “Shop Wedding Invitations” to view their entire catalog, otherwise you are prompted to choose by printing method, which can narrow your search a bit early if this is not your preference. |
| Design | The designs are quite gorgeous and very broad in style from quirky to formal and everything inbetween. As the Minted Team work with independent designers (although they do work with some larger known brands also), these are fresh designs you are not going to see everywhere else.
They also run a design competition (globally) to keep the fresh designs flowing in from new trends and ideas. If you are looking for letterpress wedding invitations, then this is your site. Not only do they have an extensive collection of 149 designs, they also have a specialist custom letterpress service to design and produce bespoke letterpress wedding invitations. There is also a limited collection of ethinic/cultural designs (6 only) and no specific category associated with DIY. Although, as they are also providers of stationery, you could pick up many of your DIY supplies from them if needed. |
| Additional Services | Calligraphy service (either for invitations / cards purchased via them, or not) comes in three categories (standard, premium and celebrity). For anyone wanting to follow formal wedding invitations etiquette and have your envelopes hand-addressed, this is a gorgeous option.
There are also matching cards and other wedding related party invitations available to match your design (depending on the design) orstandalone, which can also be personalized and customized. If |
| Samples | Samples are available for all invitations and associated wedding cards / party invitations at a charge. These are shipped within 2 days of order via US1stClass (no additional charge) or Fed Ex (additional charge, depending on the service) |
| Process | The process of design and ordering is well structured and provides loads of options, there are also matching items available (ie response cards, save the date cards etc) depending on the design selected. You get one free proof with each item ordered.
If you want to change your mind after this (eg change color, font, or the design in total), there are additional charges. Also, some more complex customizations will incur a charge (for example if you want a specific font which needs to be sourced for you). All design charges seems very reasonable at around $15-$20. |
| Price | Minted.com offer designs at a range of pricepoints (they are graded from $ to $$$$). Their ‘budget’ option starts at around $2.34 ea (for 100) and the ‘top $” spots go up to $10.60 + |
| What I Loved | The Designs. These are stunning, unique and quite beautiful designs, produced with the highest quality standards in mind. Their custom service ensures that you will be delighted with your choice. |
| What I Didn’t | You can’t sort by motif. So, for example if you particularly want ‘daisies’, you would need to look through all the floral/botanical options to find out if they have any daisies.
Their limited range of ethnic /cultural designs is also disappointing. |
| Hot Tip | It is worth getting on the minted mailing list as they also offer sale and discounts from time to time that may be of interest. Check out the current offers on our Discount page. |
